Okay, this is one of my soap boxes… do you know when the 12 days of Christmas actually are? I know a certain reporter who does not know.
So today, December 27th, is the 2nd or 3rd day of Christmas, depending on whether or not you count Christmas or you count Epiphany. I like to count Epiphany as the 12th day so I would say today is the 2nd day of Christmas.
I read the linked article on December 21st. The article starts:
On the sixth day of Christmas, a group of Congress members decided to forgo the traditional “six geese-a-laying” and instead gave the American people a House Resolution defending Christmas.
The reporter was referencing a resolution introduced the Thursday before, on the 19th of December. This reporter obviously thinks that the 12 days BEFORE Christmas are the 12 days of Christmas…
I know it’s silly but it’s one of my pet peeves when a person does not know that the 12 days of Christmas are the days between Christmas and Epiphany (January 6th, when the wise men supposedly arrived). It ranks right up there with a person pronouncing “moot” as “mute.”
