Last Sunday after church we were having donuts and Emee was sitting at another table with a friend of hers. The friend's mother came over to us amazed that she was as old as she is, she is two years older than this friend and the mother thought she was only one year older. (Remember, Emee is small for her age so people are often surprised that she is eight and about to go into third grade.)
The mother had asked Emee if she was going into first or second grade this year (based on the fact that her daughter is going into first grade). Emee answered that she was actually going into third grade. The mother said, in surprise, "How do you get into third grade already?"
My daughter answered very matter-of-factly, "I passed second grade."
