Snowsuit vs. Swimsuit

Today my six year old daughter managed to wear a snowsuit and a swimsuit all in the same day. “How did she do that?” you may ask. Did the weather change that drastically today? No… this is a feat that a only grade school aged girl (or boy) could achieve.

This morning we woke up to about 3 inches of snow but it was melting very quickly since, even at 8am, it was already 35 degrees. So around noon Emee donned her snowsuit so she could take her sled into the front yard and play in the very wet and melting snow.

Later in the day we went to the grocery store and she talked me into getting a Barbie doll in a swimsuit, a “limited edition” Barbie that is a tie-in with the Barbie “Mermaid Tale” movie (I think it was actually “Theresa,” she had brown hair). As we were driving home, Emee realized that the Ken (well, not really Ken, I don’t think, he is blond… is Ken blond?) doll we got recently to be a “prince” had also come in a swimsuit and she asked if he was this Barbie’s prince. I told her that he was from the same mermaid movie and that he probably was supposed to be this girl’s “prince.” So Emee asked if, when we got home, she could take a play bath and play with her new “princess” and “prince.”

When we got home, she disappeared into her bedroom for a minute or two. When she came back to the living room, she said, “Since this is a play bath, can I wear this?” and held up the swimsuit she had just retrieved from her bedroom. And I said yes… so she wore her swimsuit in the bath while she played with her Barbie and Ken dolls who were also wearing swimsuits.

So that’s how my daughter managed to wear a snowsuit and a swimsuit all in the same day.
